My Papa

My grandfather was my papa. That was the name that he decided he wanted to be called. He was a great man and a member of my family that could never be replaced. He was too smart for his own good and liked all things dealing with his family. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because it was a time where the entire family came together. He loved being around his family and taking care of his four grandchildren. That is what these poems made me think about.

My grandfather was a simple man, he lived in the same house for 47 years and taught and lived in the same area for more than that. He never had anything spectacular and yet had you talked to him you would realize that he had what everyone is looking for. He had an understanding of life and could talk about it for hours. There was not a single person that did not like him, and he could put a smile on any face. He taught me and the rest of my family those things that he learned. He taught us how to appreciate the little things. He taught the most important thing that I learned, even when life is hard if your family needs you, you give them everything that you can.

These poems for me are the representation of my papa. He passed away 2 years ago, and he has been missed. He did not go out on fan fair but he was applauded. If I could I would go back and tell him just how important he was, but now we just get to live in those lessons and memories of him. I believe that is what these poems are, memories of influential people in their lives, and for me, that was my papa.
