"Roethke and Salinas;"
Both poems “My papa’s waltz “and “my
father is a simple man “ their main themes was the relationship between a
father and son.
“My papa’s waltz” the speaker begins by
describing the relationship between son and his father how close their were when they were “
The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy
dizzy; But I hung on like death: Such
waltzing was not easy.” Dancing with his father the waltz it wasn’t easy it was “like
death” any thing could happen the speaker could get hurt at any moment because of the drunkenness and the situation his
father was in .Through the poem the waltz dance was the most meaning full symbol
in the poem because it represent the closeness of father’s son relationship even
thought the son is more likely to be hurt
but he still want to show love to his father
“My Father is a Simple Man”
The speaker begin by describing his
close relationship with his “I walk to town with m father to buy a newspaper” based
on the description it seem like their
relationship great and there is love connection In it . but more important about
it is the memory that the speaker’s father left behind and how the speaker will remember his father.
“I ask him what he thinks about death and he says he will gladly face it when
it comes but won't jump out in front of a car.” those were the thing that the
speaker memorize when he was leaving with his father the he speak and act around him during the journey
For the comparison of this two
poem their both about father’s and son relationship but mostly the good and bad
memory that happen throughout their journey.
